Free AI Review Response Generator: The Tools, Examples, and a Better Way (2026)
Free review response generators write one reply that you copy and paste. If your reviews live on a Shopify store, a free plan can draft every reply in your voice and publish it under the review, in the page Google reads. Here are the tools, the examples, and the rules.
Several free AI review response generators need no signup, including AdNabu, EmbedSocial, Localo and RightResponse AI: paste a review, pick a tone, copy the draft. For product reviews on Shopify, you can skip the copying: the BeyondReviews free plan includes 10 AI replies a month, drafted in your voice with the review in front of it, and nothing is published until you approve it. Approved replies go into the product page’s HTML, where they help search as well as the shopper.
What does a free review response generator actually do?
Almost all of them work the same way. You paste the review text into a box, choose a tone and sometimes a length, and the tool writes one or more draft replies. You pick one, copy it, go back to wherever the review lives, and paste it in. The good ones detect whether the review is positive, mixed or negative and adjust, and some let you add your business name so the reply does not read as anonymous.
That is useful when you have a handful of reviews to answer on Google, Trustpilot or a marketplace, where you cannot plug anything into the reply box. It is less useful for product reviews on your own store, for three reasons. The tool sees one review and nothing else: not the product, not your earlier replies, not what other customers said. The voice resets every time, so a year of replies can read as if twenty different people wrote them. And the tool stops at the draft. Posting, and remembering which reviews still need an answer, stays your job.
Which free AI review reply tools are there in 2026?
These are the free tools that come up most for this search, each read on 24 September 2026. All four are sound for a quick draft; they differ in where they expect your reviews to live.
- AdNabu: paste a review from Google, Amazon, Shopify, Trustpilot, Yelp or the App Store, choose one of 7 tones plus a length, and get 2 variants. Free with no signup.
- EmbedSocial: paste a review or pull one from a Google location, set the sentiment (positive, mixed or negative) and one of four tones, and choose between several drafts. Its paid product adds auto-responder rules.
- Localo: built for Google reviews. It checks a Google Business Profile for reviews with no response and drafts replies for them. The paid product starts with 14 days free.
- RightResponse AI: a free generator page in front of a paid review management product, priced from $10 per location a month plus 20 cents per response, with a seven-day trial.
- BeyondReviews Review Response Generator: free and no signup, and deliberately not AI. You give it the rating, the product, the phrase the customer used and what is true about it, and it builds the draft around their words, tells you whether their phrase made it into the reply, and warns you about the trap for that star rating.
Why is our free tool not AI?
Because a model handed a one-star review and asked to be diplomatic tends to produce the same apology every time, and shoppers have learned to skip it. The tool on this site asks you for two things a generator cannot know: the customer’s own phrase, and the honest answer to it. It then puts that phrase back into the reply, which is what lets the reply match what the next shopper types into a search box.
The AI version of this lives inside the product, where it has what a standalone tool lacks: the review, the product, your past replies and your voice. That is the next section.
A generator writes one reply. A reply desk answers every review.
A reply desk is the reply tool built into the review app itself. Instead of you carrying reviews to a generator, each new review arrives with a draft already written, in the voice you set, with the product and the review in context. You read it, change what you want, and approve it. The reply then publishes under the review on the product page, with no copying and no second tab.
On BeyondReviews this is on the free plan: 10 AI replies a month, one draft per reply, on stores up to 100 orders a month. Nothing publishes until you approve it, and one and two star reviews, reviews with photos or video, and anything about safety, refunds or legal matters always wait for a person. Paid plans from $29 a month answer every review, read and reply to the reviews you already have at signup, and offer more drafts to choose from.
The second difference is where the reply ends up. BeyondReviews writes reviews and replies into the product page’s own HTML, so the reply is part of the page Google and AI answer engines read, rather than something loaded afterwards by a script.
Do review replies help search, or only the shopper?
Both, and the evidence for the first is older than most people expect. Proserpio and Zervas studied hotels that began responding to their reviews and found a 12% rise in review volume and a 0.12-star rise in ratings afterwards (Marketing Science, 2017). Customers write more when they can see someone reads what they write.
The search side is about words on the page. A reply that repeats the customer’s own phrase, such as “runs small in the shoulders” or “fine for hard water”, adds text that matches what the next shopper searches for. That only counts if a crawler can read it. None of the major AI crawlers runs JavaScript (Vercel and MERJ, 2024), so a reply loaded by a widget script can be invisible to ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity even when a shopper sees it. A reply in the page HTML is readable by all of them.
How do you reply to a 5-star review?
Short, specific, and signed by a person. Name the thing they praised, in their words, and add one fact they may not know. Do not ask for anything, and do not paste the same thank-you under every review: shoppers read replies in a column, and identical ones read as automated.
Example, for a five-star review that says the linen shirt “stays cool on the train”: “Thank you, Priya. Staying cool on the train is exactly what the open weave is for, and it softens further after a few washes. Tom, at the studio.”
How do you reply to a 4-star review?
Thank them, then find the missing star. A four-star review usually says what held it back, and that sentence is the one other shoppers read most closely. Answer it plainly, with a fact rather than a promise.
Example, for “Lovely candle, burn time shorter than I hoped”: “Thank you, James. Burn time depends a lot on the first light: letting the top melt edge to edge the first time stops it tunnelling, which is what usually shortens it. We have added that to the label.”
How do you reply to a 3-star review?
Concede the part they are right about. Three-star reviews are read more carefully than any other kind because they look balanced, and a reply that defends everything reads as one that would defend anything. Agree with the fair point, correct anything factually wrong without arguing, and offer a route to fix their order.
Example, for “Good fit, but the colour is darker than the photos”: “Thank you, Sam, and you are right about the colour. The photos were taken in daylight and the navy reads darker indoors; we have added an indoor photo to the page. If you would rather swap it, reply here and we will sort the exchange.”
How do you reply to a 1-star or 2-star review?
Write for the next reader, not the angry one. Apologise once, without “but”. Say what went wrong in one sentence, say what you did or will do, and move the details to email. Do not quote order numbers, dates or addresses the customer did not post themselves.
Example, for “Arrived broken and nobody answered my email”: “I am sorry, Dana. A broken bowl and no reply is two failures, and both were ours. A replacement is on its way, and we have changed how that glaze is packed. If anything else is wrong, reply here and I will pick it up myself. Anna.”
For more cases and the reasoning behind each line, see the guide to responding to negative reviews.
What should a review reply never do?
These are the mistakes that turn a reply into a second problem, whether a person or a generator wrote it.
- Never ask the customer to change or remove their review, and never offer anything in exchange for doing so.
- Never argue the facts in public. Correct a wrong fact once, calmly, and take the rest to email.
- Never post personal details the customer did not share: order numbers, delivery dates, addresses.
- Never publish an AI draft unread. Check every fact in it, because a generator will happily promise a refund policy you do not have.
- Never paste one template under every review. Identical replies read as a bot and add no words worth reading.
- Never promise a change you have not made. “We have updated the size guide” is only worth saying once it is true.
- Never leave the worst reviews unanswered while replying to the best ones. Shoppers notice which reviews got an answer.
Which should you use?
If your reviews are on Google, Trustpilot or a marketplace and you answer a few a week, a free standalone generator is fine: AdNabu, EmbedSocial, Localo and RightResponse AI all draft a usable reply in seconds, and the tool on this site helps when you want the customer’s phrase carried into it.
If your reviews are on your Shopify product pages, use a review app that drafts the replies where they will be published. BeyondReviews does that on its free plan, with 10 AI replies a month in your voice, photo and video reviews, Google stars and unlimited review requests, free up to 100 orders a month. If you are moving from another app, your reviews import as part of setup and count toward your rating from day one, and keeping your Google stars through the move is treated as our problem, not yours.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a free AI review response generator?
Yes. AdNabu, EmbedSocial, Localo and RightResponse AI all offer free generators with no signup: paste a review, choose a tone, copy the draft. For Shopify product reviews, the BeyondReviews free plan includes 10 AI replies a month, drafted inside the app and published under the review once you approve them.
Can I use ChatGPT to reply to reviews?
You can, with the same limits as any standalone generator. It sees only the text you paste, so it cannot know your policies or the product, and it will write confident sentences that may not be true. Read every draft, correct the facts, and change one sentence to something only you would say.
Should I reply to every review?
Aim to, and never skip the negative ones. Proserpio and Zervas found businesses that began replying received 12% more reviews and higher ratings. Keep positive replies short and specific so they do not read as a template.
Do review replies help SEO?
They can, if they are in the page HTML and use the words customers use. A reply that repeats a customer’s phrase adds text that matches real searches. Replies loaded by a JavaScript widget may not be read by crawlers that do not run scripts, which includes the major AI crawlers.
Is the BeyondReviews Review Response Generator AI?
No, on purpose. It builds a draft from what you tell it, including the customer’s own phrase and the honest answer, and checks that the phrase made it into the reply. The AI replies are in the BeyondReviews app, where the draft is written with the review, the product and your voice in front of it.
