The Loox Free Plan Explained: What You Get Before 500 Orders
Loox now has a free plan, called Beginner. It runs for 500 total orders, not 500 a month, and it leaves out video reviews and branding removal. What it includes, what happens at order 500, and what to use next.
Yes, Loox has a free plan. Loox calls it Beginner, and it covers up to 500 total orders counted from the end of your trial, with review request emails (up to 2,000 a month), photo reviews, discounts for photo reviews, Google rich snippets and more than a dozen widgets. Video reviews, AI replies and branding removal start on Convert at $49.99 a month. Once the store passes 500 orders the Beginner plan is no longer available and Loox asks you to upgrade.
What is the Loox free plan?
Loox offers a free tier on Shopify under the name Beginner. On the Shopify App Store the card reads "Beginner, Free", and on loox.app the same plan is priced at 0 USD a month with a Start Free button. So if you have seen people call it "the Loox free plan" and others call it "Loox Beginner", they mean the same thing.
The tier is for new stores. Loox’s help centre describes it as a way for newer Shopify stores to start collecting social proof from day one, and the limit reflects that: it is sized for a store’s first few hundred orders, not for a store that is already selling steadily.
What does the free plan include?
More than most people expect from a free tier. The Shopify App Store listing names these for Beginner, and the help centre adds the email allowance:
- Review request emails and reminders, up to 2,000 review request emails a month.
- Photo reviews, with a discount you can offer customers who add a photo.
- More than a dozen widgets: the help centre says 14, the App Store listing says 17 or more.
- Google rich snippets and review schema, so stars can show in search results.
- Turning reviews into social posts, and syndication to the Shop app.
- Loox’s 24/7 chat and email support.
What does the free plan leave out?
Loox’s pricing page lists what Convert adds on top of Beginner, which is the clearest way to see the gaps. The ones that matter most to a growing store are video reviews and the Loox branding on the widget.
- Video reviews. Beginner collects photos only.
- Removing the Loox branding from your widgets.
- AI review replies, AI summaries and review stories.
- Smart visual sorting and review highlights.
- Auto-translated reviews.
- Google Shopping, Meta and TikTok syndication.
- Referrals.
Is the 500-order limit a month or in total?
In total. This is the detail most people miss. The help centre says the plan supports up to 500 total orders, counted from the end of your Loox trial, and the quota article repeats it as a maximum of 500 orders after the trial ends. It does not reset each month.
So the plan lasts as long as it takes your store to reach 500 orders. A store taking 50 orders a month has roughly ten months. A store taking 250 a month has two. The review request emails are the part that is monthly: up to 2,000 a month on Beginner, and if you go over, Loox pauses and queues them. A queued email that is still unsent 30 days after its scheduled time is marked Missed and does not go out.
What happens when you reach 500 orders?
Loox’s wording is that after that point the Beginner plan will no longer be available and it will recommend upgrading to a higher plan. It also says that when you upgrade, your widgets and reviews stay exactly as they are, so moving up does not change anything on your live store.
What Loox does not publish is what happens to a store that reaches 500 orders and chooses not to upgrade. If that is your situation, ask Loox support in writing before you hit the cap, and export your reviews and photos while the account is active either way. Our guide to exporting from Loox covers the photo side, which is the part people tend to leave too late.
What do the paid Loox plans cost?
There are two, and the one to watch is how Convert is metered. Convert is $49.99 a month and includes 300 orders per 30-day billing cycle. Each further block of 300 orders adds $50. Unlimited is $299.99 a month with no order limit. Both come with a 14-day free trial, and all Loox charges go through your Shopify bill every 30 days.
Worked through, Convert costs $49.99 up to 300 orders in a cycle, $99.99 up to 600, $149.99 up to 900, and $299.99 by 1,800, which is the price of Unlimited. Above 1,800 orders a cycle, Unlimited is the cheaper of the two.
- Beginner: free, up to 500 total orders, photo reviews, no video.
- Convert: $49.99 a month for 300 orders a cycle, plus $50 per extra 300. Video reviews start here.
- Unlimited: $299.99 a month, no order limit, priority support.
What should you use after 500 orders?
If Loox’s galleries are working for you, Convert is the natural next step, and the upgrade leaves your widgets untouched. Loox is a good, dependable way to collect photo reviews and display them well.
If you are choosing again anyway, look at BeyondReviews. It does the collecting and displaying too, and it does it on the free plan with video included: free up to 100 orders a month, every month, with unlimited review requests, photo and video reviews, Google stars through Review and Product schema, every widget and 10 AI replies a month. The first paid plan, Studio, is $29 a month for 300 orders.
The difference is what happens after the review is posted. BeyondReviews writes your reviews and replies into the product page’s own HTML, where Google and AI answer engines read them. From Studio, Chorus counts the phrases your customers keep repeating about each product, and the phrases you approve are printed on the product page, so the words buyers search for are on the page they land on. Nothing publishes until you approve it. Your Loox reviews are imported as part of setup and count toward your rating from day one, and keeping your Google stars through the move is our job, not yours.
How do the free plans compare?
Three free plans come up most often for a store leaving Loox Beginner. They are built on different limits, so compare the limit before the feature list.
- Loox Beginner: 500 total orders, then upgrade. Photo reviews; video from $49.99.
- BeyondReviews Free: 100 orders a month, renewed every month. Photo and video, Google stars, every widget, 10 AI replies a month.
- Judge.me Forever Free: unlimited reviews, photo and video included. Its paid plan is $15 a month.
